Traditional tacking outriggers

Samoan tacking outrigger. Note, that it is quite similar to a ilustration posted before.
Hawaiian style tacking outrigger.
That's the same samoan model again.
Beautyfull models of traditional tacking outriggers by a hawaiian artist Mr. Pimmel. No joke -German readers might excuse.
He does nice work that gives us a realistic view of the traditional configuration of traditional tacking outriggers. Thank's Gary Dierking for the link. He actually builds real modern time sailing outrigger canoes, and does a good job promoting them. Tacking outriggers and proas. His book, "Building Sailing Outrigger Canoes", is superb.
Why did they all have the ama on the port side? I think starboard is better. Well, I'm on the other side of the globe - maybe that's why.
