For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by balance, movement and elegant form.
I learned to sail from my father as a young boy. Like many children, I built models—sometimes from kits, sometimes from pieces of wood and other treasures found on the beach. My dream was always to build a sailboat.
At the same time, I discovered kinetic mobiles. For decades I have explored how simple elements, delicately balanced, can create movement, harmony and unexpected beauty.
For many years I thought these were simply different interests. Looking back, I now realise they have always been part of the same journey.
Whether I am designing a mobile, a canoe or a sailing boat, I am searching for the same thing: the point where balance, structure and movement come together to create elegant form. To me, beauty is not something added afterwards. It emerges naturally when forces are resolved with simplicity and honesty.
This blog has mostly documented the projects themselves—from Arara to Arpex and now Nautilus. In the coming posts, I would like to explore something deeper: the ideas that connect them.
Perhaps they are all different expressions of the same lifelong search.
