But we were advised, that our Landrover Defender would not be able to cross the roads, which were softened by weeks of rain. Only heavy duty, 4x6 trucks, with immense tires, were used to establish a connection to the capital. We also refrained to fly to Georgetown, with the national airway Air Guyana when we saw their wind shaken office building, which mas merely more than a shack.
Lethem, the small boarder town, was barely more than a loose gathering of houses, which make you feel like in an english movie, with settings in colonial Africa.
