The Carioca design was thought specifically to provide a simple platform for weekend cruises in a circle of 60 to 70 nautical miles around Rio de Janeiro. To reach this range, the boat needs to be fast. I hope to achieve average passage times considerabely faster than a conventional mono hull in the same budget cluster. Under good conditions I recon I can do 15knots ... I guess I can achive that. Since the passage is a daytime sail, one does not need to plan for sleeping crew. So full crew attention to sailing can be expected.
