Night visit to Arpex

I definitely need to do this more often. A visit to Atpex at the end of the day. Nothing better to leave the pressure from the office. 

Yesterday I had the bonus of meeting my mate and neighbour Pascoal, for a great chat.

Yesterday Arpex got a really nice scrub, inside and out. it was a job really well done. And to top it off, we had a really nice dancing barbecue party afterwards.

Regatta Circuit

I have been invited to crew my sisters 40 footer on the yearly regata circuit "Circuito Rio". It is a four day regata series. First day I had to miss but yesterday I was in. We all got thorougly wet in the cold and rainy weather. But we had fun anyway.

Yesterday was a fine day, with clean water in Urca, just right to do a periodic check on my mooring. I hired a diver, Marivaldo, to go down with a camera, and give me a visual of the conditions of my mooring.

My boat is light, and my mooring is strong. So I wasn't expecting any problems. But I wanted to have it done anyway. And it was good that I did. Becasue even small issues can cause big problems. I this case, fishing lines had tangled around the link that prevents the twisting of the mooring line, above the chain. The link got jammed, and therefore the mooring line twisted and got compromised. It won't break right now, but I do need to change the line.

Afternoon sail

A lucky day. My lovely Mrs Arpex, Adri, joind me for a short spin on the bay. Gusty, turbulent winds, from changing angles made for challenging sailing. But the charming light, and company made up for it. 

Lunch at Rio Sailing

Yesterday Lelê and Don joind me for a sail on Arpex. We had a lovely breeze, and splendid weather. We creamed along at about 8 to 9 knots, with a top speed of 9,2 knots. Lelê and Dn, who sail a 36 cabin boat, seemed to enjoy the ride and sailing Arpex. We stopped at their "second" club, the Rio Sailing, in Niteroi. Serving of our lunch took quite a while, and we made our way home at the end of the day. A marvelous breeze took us home, under a magic sky. I loved it!

After the four weeks of olimpic curfew, where we were no allowed to move our boats on the bay, between 11am an 6pm, I had to go for a short sail. Even if, after getting some maintenance jobs done, I was rather tired, and lazy....
